1. WHAT IS MOTOXPLORERS?
MotoXplorers is a Portuguese company founded by 5 travel companions. In past years we've motorcycled many exotic and faraway destinations. We've become addicted to this form of travel to the point of considering make it a way of living. We're established in Lisbon where we rent motorcycles and run an Adventure Store. We also organize tours in our beautifull country of which you can know more here. We are committed to provide you a quality experience, so Motoxplorers has a legal certification as a rent-a-bike company which is given by Portuguese Transport Authorities (License nr: 129/2010 IMTT) and we are certified by the Portuguese National Tourist Office (licence nr 2242011)
2. WHAT ARE YOUR COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES?
Although we're very serious about our business, we're avid motorcyclists. We're not some anonymous big rental company, we understand your needs,we do care about you and we'll make our best to help you make the most of your trip. Our motorcycles can be ridden over most of Europe without extra costs and we offer unlimited mileage. Also we don't charge for side cases / top cases.
Luggage storage, Hotel booking, airport transfer, GPS, extra helmet or lower seats are just some of the services we can provide to ease your ride.
3. WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE PRICE OF MY RENTAL??
Pretty much everything:
• The usage of the selected motorcycle
• A luggage solution (sidecases or a combination of sidecases and
topcase)
• Unlimited mileage
• Third party (liability) insurance
• CDW (collision damage waiver)
• Usage of a jet or convertible helmet
• Usage of a roadmap of Portugal
• VAT
4. DO I HAVE TO LEAVE A DAMAGE DEPOSIT?
Yes. It is the limit of your responsibility if you damage the motorcycle. You can leave the deposit in cash or you can have your Credit Card assure it.
5. WHAT'S THE PURPOSE OF THE DAMAGE DEPOSIT?
You are responsible for eventual damages in the motorcycle up to the limit of this damage deposit. After returning the bike, if there are no damages, the
deposit is returned in full.
6. DO YOU IMPOSE AN AGE OR EXPERIENCE LIMIT?
than one year of riding experience.
7. HOW DO I ASSURE MY RESERVATION?
After you fill in the reservation form on our website, we'll contact you back with the bike's availability and final quote. We'll then ask you for a reservation fee of 50% of the total cost of the rental, upon which payment your reservation will be assured. Half of this amount is returnable if you decide to cancel your reservation with 30 days in advance of its start.
8. WHEN DO I PAY THE RENTAL COST?
The remaining cost of your rent will be paid when you pick up the motorcycle.
9. HOW CAN I PAY YOU?
We accept cash or credit cards. You can also pay using Paypal or bank transfer.
10. WHAT HAPPENS IF I CANCEL MY RESERVATION?
If your cancellation is received with more than 30 days prior to the start of the rental period, we will return you 50% of the reservation fee (which in turn is 50% of the total rental). It means you only loose 25% of the rental cost.
11. WHEN CAN I PICK UP/ RETURN THE MOTORCYCLE?
On weekdays from 09H00 to 20H00. It can be possible out of this timeframe but please get in touch with us to appoint it.
12. CAN I LEAVE MY EXTRA LUGGAGE WITH YOU WHILE I'M RENTING A MOTORCYCLE?
Absolutely. We will store it for free.
13. HOW DO I GET TO YOUR STORE?
Taxi would be the most convenient way. We're very close to the city centre or to the airport. A taxi from there to our store should cost something like 8
Euro. We're also very close to the subway station of Lumiar. Get on the yellow line towards "Odivelas" and exit at Lumiar. Leaving the subway station, take the exit to "Alameda das Linhas de Torres". Once on the surface, cross Alameda das Linhas de Torres and walk to your left.
Turn right at Rua Virgínia Vitorino. Walk to the end of it and turn right. You're at Rua Luís Freitas Branco, walk 70 meters, we're on the right. Check map and GPS coordinates here
14. CAN YOU PICK ME UP AT THE AIRPORT?
It may be possible. We will charge a transfer fee. Please get in touch with us.
15. CAN YOU DELIVER THE MOTORCYCLE AT MY HOTEL?
Yes we can. We will have to charge you a fee though.
16. CAN I RETURN THE MOTORCYCLE AT A DIFFERENT LOCATION?
It is possible. Please explain us your plan and we'll calculate our best fee to retrieve the bike.
17. CAN YOU PROVIDE A HELMET FOR MY PILLION?
Yes. Additional jet helmets are available for rent at 5 Euros/day.
18. WILL YOU PROVIDE A GPS?
The usage of a GPS is optional and subject to a fee of 10 Eur/ day. All our bikes have GPS brackets and electrical installations to feed a GPS. We rent
latest model Garmin GPS's with the latest cartography.
19. WHERE CAN I RIDE YOUR MOTORCYCLE?
Pretty much anywhere in the world! The liability insurance included in your rental serves for Portugal and Spain. If you plan on riding somewhere else,
please inform us in advance so that we can assure the insurance coverage outside that territory. For some countries, a fee may be implied. For most
European countries it won't.
20. CAN I RIDE TO MOROCCO?
Yes you can. There's a charge involved as we'll also be charged by the insurance company and we'll have to prepare some documentation to
temporarily export the motorcycle out of the European Union. Get in touch with us with your detailed plan.
21. CAN I RIDE THE MOTORCYCLE OFF-ROAD?
It depends on what you call off-road. We only rent big trail motorcycles, so you must understand the bike's and your limitations. You are fully responsible
for damage due to careless usage. That said, on well groomed tracks or good gravel roads, why not?
22. CAN YOU HELP ME PLANNING MY TRIP?
We'll be delighted to.
23. WHAT HAPPENS IF THE MOTORCYCLE BREAKS DOWN?
We rent the most reliable motorcycles in the planet and we maintain them to the highest standards, according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
All mechanical things are liable to malfunction, though. In that unlikely event, we'll try to replace the broke down motorcycle as soon as possible. If we can't replace it, we'll have breakdown assistance tow it to the nearest dealer and we'll take care of your lodging while the bike is repaired. Obviously, we'll refund the days you'll not be using the bike.
